I have actually managed to convince myself that

keeping my heart safe is a feat

I have the capability to do.

Get this Lord.

I have been attempting to

protect myself from,

of ALL people, YOU.

The very idea of surrendering ALL

of my hope and expectations to You,

causes my heart to fearfully balk.

So I keep my trust on a very short lease,

constantly tugging it back, on my spiritual walk.

Naively, I am holding my heart prisoner,

preventing the reality of God’s “me”

to become.

Unwittingly, I am holding my healing

and deliverance hostage,

and blocking myself from freedom.

But, it’s time to stop holding back

all of me from you.

And it’s time to stop holding back

all of you from me.

It’s time to stop pretending and fronting

like I’m as whole as I can be.

Time for me, my heart, to you, to release.

Time for me, my trust, to you, to unleash.

It’s time to let the prisoner go free.

Each day has numerous and countless scenarios,

heavy with offenses and temptations of unrighteousness,

just ripe for the picking.

But I choose not to eat or partake of that fruit.

Instead, ALL thoughts of bitterness, wrath, anger,

clamor, slander and malice, I put away from me.

By the power of the Holy Spirit, I render them mute.

My heart, filled with compassion, will remain tender.

And kind to others I will be.

As I obediently and humbly choose to always forgive,

just as God in Christ also has forgiven me.

She wanted to believe so bad that

God really loved her just like His word

promised her He did. She longed

to wrap herself tightly with the

assurance of a perfect love

available and waiting for her.

Who knew acceptance of this amazing

revelation could be so difficult?

In the back of her mind words of

warning, “If it sounds too good

to be true, it usually is!” were

firmly planted. God’s message of

love didn’t seem to stand a chance

against the weeds of doubt

hoarding the gardens of her heart and soul.

She wanted to experience the

wonderfulness and power of His

love in her life. She wanted reprieve

from the sadness and madness of

her life. She wanted God’s hope.

FALLING IN LOVE

I am falling deeper and deeper in love with God. He truly IS the lover of my soul. Our relationship is the only one in which I have EVER felt truly whole, in which I have EVER been assured of wholeness as a possibility, in which I have EVER envisioned or viewed wholeness as a reality. I am in love.

I am in love with His presence, His love, His availability, His comfort, His voice, His touch, His word, with Him, with Him!

He is filling ALL the empty places, ALL the emptiness I have carried around in my heart, in my mind, in my soul, in my very being.

He has become the pieces I was missing. I have found them ALL in Him.

I am in love. I am losing my fear of His control. I am embracing His Sovereignty. I am trusting His promise to NEVER, EVER leave me.

I am falling deeper and deeper in love with Him. He truly IS the lover of my soul. God is NOT my earthly, fleshly, natural father.

He is NOT plagued by inconsistencies,

according to convenience and time constraints.

Unlike an earthly father,

having multiple children does not

diminish the amount of time, comfort,

guidance, love or patience

Grief comes not just with the death of a loved one, but also with the death of dreams, relationships and stages of life. God is the only one who can provide the refuge, covering and comfort we need during those treacherous and challenging seasons of mourning.

PROTECT ME LORD

Lord, I am hurting.

Protect me in this dangerous place of grief.

Help me to realize your perfect comfort and to seek you, alone, for relief.

because grief is such a treacherous place.

Help me to be aware of YOUR presence,

BATTLE

Me and my son and the battles lost and won.

Who’s in charge at any given time is,

I’m ashamed to say debatable.

My un-sureness, masked as authority, to his sharp eye,

is more often than not, detectable.

His eleven-year old wisdom, at times,

reveals my forty-one year old wisdom as deflatable.

And the reason that comes from his mouth,

at those times, is most convicting and detestable.

So I grudgingly hand him the win with an attitude

similar to, but not quite, respectable.

And I choose another battle.

My delusions were my crutches,
they were my coping mechanisms.
Now they are being stripped from me -
one by one, leaving me exposed and afraid.
God's truth doesn't seem like enough
to cover my insecurities or my inadequacies.
My weaknesses seem so impossible for His grace.

There are still places in my heart
I don't want to know or admit that He sees.
Places I haven't acknowledged,
which are still broken in me.

Why is wholeness so scary.
Why is wholeness so difficult to receive?

WHEN I PRAYED

When I prayed to God,

He listened. He heard.

He even heard

the prayers I forgot I

prayed, but my heart

remembered. When they

were answered, at first, I

was amazed, then shocked,

then overwhelmed with gratitude

and humility. Here I was

so smug and self righteous

in my suffering! Actually feeling

like no one cared, or under-

stood! I was so certain that

NO ONE was really listening!

And, all along, God heard

every word, spoken and unspoken,

thought and unthought. He is

truly amazing. He has the right to be a selfish God.

He is the ultimate. NO ONE

has his power. The devil may

be able to manipulate, but God

is the only one able to

REGULATE!!! He alone is

worthy of everything you have to offer!!

God, guaranteed, will keep you humble.
